The Chess Wall Project
Where Art Meets Strategy: The Next Generation of Chess In Interactive Art

The Chess Wall is a creation by artist Arik Tal-Or, the founder of our gallery. This artistic vision bridges the world of chess—a game that uses sculpted figures moving across a board—with kinetic art.
By harnessing the same movements dictated by the rules of the game, the project transforms these motions into dynamic artworks.
Each move generates a new visual composition, creating a constantly evolving narrative with every step of the game.
The project is currently in the exhibition stage, in collaboration with chess federations in various locations, as part of the international E Forum's chess program in Switzerland.
The Fusion of Chess and Art: A Dynamic Narrative
The connection between chess and art creates a unified narrative, blending visual aesthetics with a deeply human story.
This fusion allows for a range of themes, from conflict reminiscent of warfare to the broader concept of movement arising from the logic of two forces striving to outmaneuver one another.
The infinite variety of chess moves also enables the creation of unexpected artistic scenes.
As the artist Arik Tal-Or describes it: "I create the foundation of the artwork, rooted in the rules of chess, and from there, the game and the art take their own path."
In essence, the artwork is shaped not only by the artist but also by the art collector or players moving the pieces.
Each individual, through their own thought process, steers the creation into a unique dimension that did not exist before.
